Security Tips

  • The elbow is the strongest point on your body.  Use it if someone attacks you
  • If a robber asks you for your wallet, toss it away from you.  Chances are he is more interested in your wallet than you.  Run like mad in the other direction
  • If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back taillights and stick your arm out of the hole.  Start waving like crazy.  The driver will not see you, but chances are someone else will.  Also some of the newer model cars come equipped with an emergency trunk release, that you can see from inside the car trunk in the dark.  Pull the cord and the trunk will open.
  • As soon as you get in your car, Lock!! the doors and leave.  While doing something else, a robber can jump in your passenger seat and take you hostage
  • If someone is in your car with a gun to your head, DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car.  Your air bag will save you.  If the person is in the back seat, they will get the worst of it.  As soon as the car crashed get out and run
  • Always take the elevator. Stairwells are the perfect crime spots
  • If a predator has a gun and you are NOT!! under his/her control, ALWAYS RUN! if you can.  The predator will only hit you (a running target) about 4 out of 100 times.  Even then, it is not likely that he/she will hit a vital organ.  Run in a zigzag pattern! Don't stand around looking, get out of the danger area
  • Getting in your car in a parking lot or parking garage
    • Be aware, look around, look in your car (passenger side and back seat)

    • If you are parked next to a big van, SUV, or truck, enter your car from the passenger door.  Most Serial Killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the woman are attempting to get in their cars

    • Look at the car parked on the driver's side and passenger side of your vehicle.  If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to go back to where you were and get a Security Guard or someone to walk to your car with you.

More Security Tips Mostly Affecting Women

  • Rapists are more likely to go after a woman with a pony tail or long hair
  • Women are attacked when they are distracted, on the cell phone, searching through their purse or applying make-up. All of the above will distract you
  • Rape is most likely to take place early in the morning (5:00 am - 8:30 am)
  • The number one place women are abducted or attacked is in the Grocery Store Parking Lot.  The second place is Office Parking Lots and the third is Restrooms
  • If you resist when attacked, your attacker will more than likely realize you are too much trouble and move on
  • If you carry Pepper Spray (which is highly recommended) and you think you are about to be attacked, yell, "I have Pepper Spray" and hold so it can be seen as a deterrent
  • If you are grabbed, pinch the attacker, either under the arm (between the elbow and armpit) OR in the upper inner thigh VERY hard.
  • If you are attacked, GO for the Groin.  It will take him a long time to recover and it will give you time to get away.
  • Also, if you can grab the attacker's first two fingers, bend them back as far as you can.  This is extremely painful.
  • ALWAYS BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS! Go with your Instincts!
